Each player sets out a gate card at the beginning of their turn and then rolls one of their Bakugan in an attempt to get it to stand on a card. If they miss then it is the other player's turn. If a player can land two of his spheres on a card then the card is taken into that player's possession. If each player gets one of their battle brawlers on the same card then a battle ensues. The players then turn over the card and add the appropriate G points to their brawler's G points to decide who wins. The winner captures the card. The first player with three cards wins the match.

The game is very simple to learn to play, and is a lot of fun. Other rule variations can be used when playing as well. There are many accessories that are sold that can add to the experience of your Bakugan games, such as the battle arena and the shooters. The battle arena explains the rules slightly different, but as long as you can agree to some rules with your opponent then you can enjoy the game.
